Ceasefire and hostage release negotiations between Israel and terrorist group Hamas have stalled as Israel insists on retaining a strategic military presence on Gaza’s border with Egypt as part of a ceasefire deal.
Israel wants to control this strategic corridor to prevent further terrorist incursions across the Egyptian border into Gaza, to avoid future repetitions of the October 7 attack. Negotiators are heading to Cairo for a new series of talks.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued heavy artillery shelling in El Fasher and Omdurman, targeting residential areas and the airport, in response to the the airstrikes carried out over the past week by the Sudan Armed Forces.
The recent airstrikes by the Sudan Armed Forces also forced the Al Daein Teaching Hospital in east Darfur to close after the bombing left it unusable, adding to the health crisis in the area under RSF control.
