An unidentified aircraft targeted a vehicle in the Al-Bukamal area of Deir Ez-Zur Governorate, Syria, on September 5, resulting in one death and four injuries. The vehicle was reportedly operated by suspected Iran-backed militia personnel.
In a separate incident, over 25 Syrian regime soldiers were killedin a special operation by an opposition faction in the Jabal Al-Turkman area of the Latakia countryside. This attack was reportedly in retaliation for the regime's artillery shelling of civilian areas in Jisr Al-Shughur. The National Liberation Front claimed responsibility for the raid, which also resulted in the destruction of several military vehicles.
A senior commander from the Kurdish-led security forces in northeast Syria was killed in an explosion near a prison in Hasakeh province. A Turkish drone was present in the area, although the Turkish defense ministry has not confirmed involvement. The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces are a key player against ISIS and regularly targeted by Turkish forces.

2 - UKRAINE

Russian forces have escalated their offensive operations in an attempt to eliminate the Ukrainian stronghold west and southwest of Donetsk City and advance along the H-15 highway. Coordinated attacks from multiple fronts, including the southern and western flanks of Ukrainian defenses near Vuhledar, aim to increase pressure on Ukrainian forces in western Donetsk Oblast to enable further progress in the Pokrovsk direction.
While Russian offensives near Vuhledar and other areas in western Donetsk Oblast are intensifying, these efforts are likely secondary to the main push towards Pokrovsk. The primary objective remains capturing key locations like Kurakhove and Vuhledar to facilitate rapid advances along the H-15 highway. The secondary operations in western Donetsk are intended to fix Ukrainian forces in place and prevent their redeployment to bolster the defense of Pokrovsk.
