On Tuesday, a series of brutal airstrikes carried out by Myanmar’s military targeted Hsipaw in Shan State. At least 21 civilians, including 10 children, were reported killed this month, with more than 59 others injured.
The airstrikes involved both transport planes dropping numerous bombs and fighter jets launching attacks, leading to extensive destruction of buildings - including schools and homes.
Meanwhile, armed militant groups like the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) continue to intensify their efforts to seize control of key junta bases.

The U.N. Security Council will impose sanctions on two top generals from the Rapid Support Forces, Osman Mohamed Hamid Mohamed and Abdel Rahman Juma Barkalla, for their roles in the current war, if no objections are raised within the committee by Friday. The proposal was raised by the U.S, formally suggesting travel bans and freezing of assets. This would be the first such action of the war.
The war has now reached its 500th day, and tens of thousands are dead. Thousands more continue to suffer from the ongoing humanitarian crisis brought on by the war, and made worse by disease outbreaks and flooding.
