Over 80 people were killed in a suspected Boko Haram jihadist attack in northeastern Nigeria. A police spokesman reported 150 terrorists mounted on motorcycles and armed with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades attacked Mafa ward on Sunday afternoon, killing people and burning buildings. The attack appears to be retaliation for the killing of two Boko Haram terrorists.
Boko Haram is a jihadist terrorist group that began its insurgency in Nigeria in 2009. Since then it has spread to the neighboring countries of Niger, Chad, and Cameroon. The group is made up of two factions, one of which is backed by ISIS and focuses mostly on attacking government targets, while the other faction is known for suicide bombings and killings of civilians.

Israel continues to face pressure to reach a ceasefire deal with terrorist group Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated Israel's stance on maintaining unlimited control of Gaza's border with Egypt, an area called the Philadelphi corridor. This position has become a major obstacle in cease-fire negotiations, as Hamas demands a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza as part of any truce deal.
The US is reportedly developing a new proposal for a cease-fire and hostage release in an attempt to break the deadlock. Netanyahu argues that control of the Philadelphi Corridor is crucial to prevent Hamas from rearming through weapons smuggling, necessary to prevent a repeat of the October 7 attack. He stated that Israel would only consider withdrawing when presented with an alternative force capable of effectively policing the border.
The IDF reported an overnight airstrike on a Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad command center in the Deir al-Balah area within the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in central Gaza. The IDF stated that the site was being used by Hamas to plan and carry out attacks against Israeli troops from within the humanitarian zone.
