Russia conducted one of the largest drone and missile strikes against Ukraine of the war so far. The strike consisted of over 120 missiles of various types, launched from within Russia and Crimea, as from aircraft over occupied areas, and from submarines in the Black Sea.
The strike also included over 100 drones. Ukraine managed to intercept at least 100 of the missiles, and 99 of the drones, but the strike did cause significant damage to Ukrainian energy infrastructure, hitting targets in at least 15 Ukrainian oblasts(An administrative territorial division), causing severe disruptions.
Ukrainian officials emphasized the strike as a reason to continue to need to receive air defense systems from it's partners, as well as pointing to research indicating that there are at least 250 military targets within range in Russia that could be struck, if limitations were removed on the use of the munitions.

Russia and Iran consistently provide military support in favor of the Syrian State government, notorious for major crackdowns resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilian protesters.
Turkey holds some territory in the north of Syria and has recently resumed joint patrols with Russia in the region. On Friday, United States forces in Syria successfully killed Abu Makki, a senior leader of terrorist group Hurras al-Din, a group made of many former Al-Qaeda members.
