In an attack from an unknown source, electronic pagers belonging to members of the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah exploded. Lebanese officials claim 8 people killed and 2,800 wounded. A Hezbollah official blamed Israel, but the group's official statement called for investigation. Lebanon's Information Minister accused Israel directly. In Syria, 7 died from similar explosions in Damascus.
Israel's Shin Bet agency foiled a Hezbollah plot to assassinate a former Israeli security official using a remote-detonated mine. The agency linked this to a similar 2023 Tel Aviv bombing and stated the group had been under surveillance.
U.S. Secretary of State Blinken is traveling to Egypt for cease-fire talks, his 10th Middle East trip since October 2023. Israel's security cabinet recently updated its war aims to include returning 60,000 displaced Israeli citizens to their homes in the north of Israel, alongside eliminating Hamas, freeing hostages, and securing southern borders.

Ukrainian forces appear to be trying to surround a group of Russian forces in Kursk Oblast, by breaking through a new section of the frontline towards the village of Vesele, and advancing deeper into Russian territory. Russian troops were unable to organize a defense due the speed and planning of the Ukrainian advance.
Since all of the bridges on the Seym river have been destroyed, thousands of poorly trained conscripts could potentially be encircled, but due to the relatively small number of Ukrainian troops, the potential success of the operation is undetermined.
